The competition requires the renovation of a neo-renaissance building that
originally was used as a bank, to transform it in the National Museum of
Architecture. The proposal maintains the fundamental elements of the existing
building accentuating its characteristic symmetry and removing all the
unnecessary parts to comply with the new programme. It simplifies the spaces
avoiding questions of style and trying to arrive to the essence of the original
building changing is dark and official character for a lighter and ethereal
atmosphere. Invites in a sensitive way, using sophisticated illumination and the
selected materials to appreciate the exhibitions that will be shown. Based in
the existing geometry and providing the necessary for a change of function, the
adequate balance between space, object and observer is achieved. This is a
decisive factor in the experience of visiting an exhibition.
