The convent of the Freylas and the church of Santa Eulalia are parts of a group of buildings that are architecturally homogeneous, solid and strong, and are located  in the same urban block but not adjacent to it. This position has resulted in a significant void in front of the two buildings. The project proposes to occupy the free space that preceded the convent with a new building on a similar scale to that one of the religious group of buildings. The massive church’s facade finds its continuation (in height and also in analogue materialisation) in the proposed intervention. The new group in its totality (church, convent and new proposal) is composed of different pieces that constitute a whole from the urban design point of view. The concept of ‘three cloisters’ organises the required functions around them. The high point occurs in the metamorphosis of the existing cloister having been refurbished to contain an auditorium. The convent that surrounds the cloister is destined to the function of cultural centre. The principal access to the group of buildings is through a patio that contains both the 17th and 21st centuries. The third cloister, of smaller scale contains living accommodation.
