The site is the location for a complex designed for rural tourism placed in the typical interior landscape of the area of Igualada, in the Barcelona province. The spectacular setting of this project invites the contemplation of nature, so therefore the relation of different parts of the programme and its link with the landscape were relevant points for its design. The project consist of two existing buildings: a country house dating from 1890 and a decayed structure that will be replaced by a new building. The existing country house will be restored keeping all its original features and respecting the original architecture.
The decision to minimise interventions to the visual topography of the landscape meant that the new building has been constructed respecting the original old building outline and height. The project also involves the landscape design for the whole site. In the recreational area there is a swimming pool that blends into the landscape, merging visually with the sky and the water. The whole project was designed around a sustainable strategy that was taken account from the project’s inception.
